May 14

 Wow only two weeks until exams.  This year has flown by.  

Next week we will be attending DNOW.  Make sure you send in your $10 for t-shirts. 

Next week in Pre-Algebra we will be continuing with multi-step equations.  I told the students today that this is what we will finish out the year on.  Their exam will cover everything we learn from here on out.  


Sixth grade is finishing up our Geometry section next week.  We will then start multiplying and dividing fractions.  Their exam will cover Geometry and multiplying and dividing fractions.

 Please do not forget testing is next week.  Make sure all students arrive to school on time so testing can begin by 8:15.  


Pre-algebra will be starting to solve one step equations with fractions and mixed numbers next week.


Sixth grade will begin our geometry chapter.  There will be lots of notes for them on this section.  


Only 6 more weeks of school.  Wow this year has flown by.

 What a crazy week.   This week we have covered lots of new topics.


6th grade is working on fractions.  We have learned the difference between an improper and proper fraction.  We have learned how to make an improper fraction into a mixed number and a mixed number into an improper fraction.  Next week we will finish up with comparing fractions and making equivalent fractions. 


Pre-Algebra is learning divisibility rules for 2, 3, 5, 6, 9, and 10.  We have also learned how to make factor trees to help find the greatest common factor of numbers.  Next week we will finish up with Chapter 4 and then move on.

 What a fast week.  


6th grade is still working on division.  Both long and short.  If your student is struggling with division please go to khan academy and have them review.  They will be having a test next Thursday on division. 


Pre-Algebra learned about mean, median, and mode this week. They also started solving one step equations involving decimals.  They will also be having a test next week on Thursday.

 Wow the weeks are flying by.  


This week 6th grade had a test on multiplication.  They did well for the most part.  Some of them need to work on multiplication facts still.  We are now starting division.  I have told them if they know multiplication facts it will make division easier.


Pre-Algebra finished our chapter on one step equations and inequalities.  They had their second test today.  Next week we will be working on mean, mode and median.  We will also be solving one step equations involving decimals.

 Don't forget we do not have school Monday, February 15, 2021.


This week Pre-Algebra has been working on solving one step equations using addition and subtraction.  Next week we will solve one step equations using multiplication and division.  We will also be solving one step inequalities.  Students will be having their second test either next Friday or the following Tuesday.


6th grade has been working on multiplying.  If your student struggles with their multiplication facts please work with them on this.  It is very important that they know their facts up to 12.

Another week down.   Both classes had their first test this week.  Overall I was very happy with how they did.  Don't forget that next week is the ColorRun.  Friday will be a half day.  Please go online and register your student at funrun.com.


Our next chapter in 6th grade is dealing with all multiplication.  If your student struggles with their multiplication facts please work with them on theses.


Pre-Algebra is going to begin solving one step equations next week.

What a crazy week.  Wishing the snow had stuck but maybe next time.  I have really enjoyed getting to know all the kiddos.  This week we have been busy learning.  

Pre-Algebra is still working on integers.  We are focusing on learning integer rules for addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.  If your student is struggling have them go on kahn academy and practice adding and subtracting integers this weekend.  

6th grade has worked on adding and subtracting decimals this week.  We have also looked at positive and negative numbers as well as Roman numerals.  They all said they liked the way we write numbers over having to write in Roman numerals.  

Both classes will be having their first tests before Friday of next week.

 And so we have begun Semester 2.

It has been fun getting to know my new students this week.  We have hit the ground running. 


6th grade has been working on place value and rounding.  We have also begun a review of addition and subtraction.


Pre-Algebra has worked with order of operations and evaluating expressions.  Next week we will begin learning about integers.  


If your student has study hall this 9 weeks please encourage them to bring something to work on as this is not a free period.  This is a great time to complete homework or work on projects that are due.

 Wow it is hard to believe that the semester will end next week.  I have enjoyed getting to know your children this semester.  Please remember that next Thursday and Friday are exams.  Students will get out at 12:15 these days.  There will be no lunch provided or aftercare.  


This week we are finishing up in all classes.  

7th grade is learning integer rules and how to use integer rules with order of operations. 

6th grade is learning about expressions and equations.

Pre-Algebra is learning about relations and functions.  

We will begin reviewing next week for our exams.

 We are almost to Christmas break. 

6th grade will be having a test next week on dividing fractions and decimals.

7th grade finished up a section on converting length and capacity this week.  We are starting integers next week.  

Pre-Algebra is still working on multi step equations.  We will be having a test next week on this. 

Don't forget the can food drive ends Monday. 

Also next Friday is a half day so we will dismiss at 12:15.

WOW.  December already.  We only have 2 and 1/2 weeks until Christmas break.  A lot is still being covered in Math.


6th grade just finished a section on multiplying and dividing fractions and decimals.  We will start dividing fraction and decimals next.


7th grade just finished a section on discounts, sales tax and interest.  We are being a section on customary units of length and capacity as well as adding and subtracting time.


Pre-Algebra has started multi step equations.  We will be adding decimals and fractions this week and next week.  


I have truly enjoyed teaching all of your children this semester.

6th grade finished up with the Geometry chapter this week.  We had our test today.  Next week we will begin multiplying fractions and decimals.

7th grade finished their chapter on ratios, unit rates, and percents this week.  Next week we will start a chapter learning about discounts, sales tax and interest.

Pre-Algebra is working on solving one step equations with fractions.  We have been doing a lot with fractions this week.  We will finish up the chapter next week and have a test on Wednesday.

Wow we are already through the month of October.  This week we have covered a lot of information.

6th grade has learned about lines, rays, and angles.  They have learned about complementary and supplementary angles.  We will spend the next week or so finishing our geometry chapter.

7th grade took their chapter 4 test.  We have begun operations with rational numbers.  They have also learned how to write a ratio and solve problems to figure out the unit rate. 

Pre-Algebra is working on least common multiples as well as how to change decimals to fractions and fractions to decimals.  We will be adding and subtracting fractions next week and solving equations with fractions.


Don't forget that penny wars start Monday.

 Today is the last day of the first quarter.  It is hard to believe that half a semester is already over. 

6th grade finished a section on fractions today.  We will start our Geometry unit Monday. 

7th grade is still finishing with adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing fractions and mixed numbers.  They will be having a test next week. 

Pre-Algebra just finished a chapter on factoring and multiplying and dividing exponents.  We will be starting a chapter with all things fractions next week.

 This week has been a busy week.  

6th grade had a test on fractions and have begun adding and subtracting fractions and mixed numbers with like and unlike denominators.


7th grade is also working on adding and subtracting fractions and mixed numbers with like and unlike denominators.  They are also starting on multiplying fractions.


Pre-Algebra started a chapter on factoring this week.  We have been learning how to use factor trees to find GCF and LCM. 

Please check renweb to see if your student is missing any work.  All work will be due by next Friday for the 1st quarter.

 Wow what a week.  We have been working hard. 

6th grade has been working on division for the past week.  I think they are finally understanding long division.  We also have discussed order of operations.  They will be having a test next week on division.


7th grade has been working hard with factoring numbers.  We have learned how to find the greatest common factor using factor trees.  We have also learned what multiples are and how to find the least common multiple. 


Pre-Algebra just finished one-step equations and inequalities.  We had our second test this week.  Now we are working on estimating decimals.  We will begin solving equations containing decimals next week. 


Over all things are going well.  I am enjoying all of your children.

This week we have been steadily moving along in math.  

6th grade is working on multiplication with 2 and 3 digit factors. 

7th grade is working on adding, multiplying and dividing decimals.

Pre-Algebra is working on simplifying expressions and solving one step equations.  

All classes will be having their second test next week.  

If your student is struggling with multiplication please work with them on their multiplication facts nightly.

Week 2

 So all of my classes had their first test this week. Overall they did well.  


This week 6th grade started a chapter on multiplication.  We are learning all the parts of a multiplication problem as well as how to multiply several digits by several digits.


7th grade has started a chapter on decimals.  Our test consisted of addition, subtraction, multiplication and division.  If your child is struggling please review math facts with them nightly. 


Pre-Algebra is plugging away.  We just finished an introductory lesson on integers. We have moved on to learning how to solve one step equations.  We will continue to review integers daily.


I hope all of your children are enjoying being back in school as much as I am.  I have enjoyed getting to know them.

Week 1

I hope everyone is enjoying being back in school.  I personally am glad to see everyone. 

This week we have gone over rules and procedures for class.  We have also began learning.

Pre-Algebra is starting to learn about variables, expressions, and integers.

7th grade and 6th grade are starting with some review of place value, as well as addition and subtraction. 

It has been a great week.
